On 20 May 2026 a Celebration of Life Memorial Event for Honorary Professor Roland Paxton was held in the William Arrol Building at Heriot-Watt University’s Edinburgh Campus at Riccarton. It was attended by some 70 invited guests. There were five speakers including the Professor Richard Williams Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Heriot-Watt University. Professor Williams spoke about Roland’s contribution to the University’s international standing. Other speakers talked about his role promoting School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS), developing the ICE Scotland Museum, his involvement with the James Clerk Maxwell Foundation and his support, as Patron, of the Friends of the Union Chain Bridge in the restoration of the bridge. The event was streamed word-wide.
