Hydraulic riveting machine on loan from the National Railway Museum

Professor Paul Jowitt (left) unveils our recently acquired hydraulic riveting machine used during the construction of the Forth Bridge (c.1887)

The machine is on loan from the National Railway Museum, York and was expertly mounted for display by Tom Stenhouse of EGIS Technical Services. To the right of the picture is Professor Roland Paxton, Chairman of the ICE Scotland Museum Committee. The machine is on permanent display on In the Willam Arrol Building at the east end of Level 1.
