Description
Kern GK1-A automatic level. With the GK1-A there is no need for time-consuming centring a sensitive telescope bubble. A pendulum compensator takes care automatically of the levelling of the line of sight to a constant accuracy of ± 1 in. It was first developed in the 1950s. (A full description of this level can be found at https://www.swisstek.org/gk0-a/images/kern_gk1-ac.pdf.)
Used for measuring vertical distances between points in conjunction with a levelling staff.
The level was adjusted and inspected by the Clarkson Group, Paisley on 28/7/70.
