Promotional folder in plastic with a tartan pattern cover presented by Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons Ltd to guests invited to a railway journey on Sir William McAlpine’s private train, pulled by the Flying Scotsman, to celebrate the Forth Bridge Centenary on 3 September 1990.

Inside the folder are:

• a promotional brochure for Sir Robert McAlpine
• a guest list
• an invitation to Mr Roland Paxton
• a plan showing the route of the journey
• three promotional items for Sir Robert McAlpine (a Parker ballpoint pen, a cigarette lighter and a six inch scale)

From Edinburgh, the train made the crossing over the Forth Bridge and travelled through Kirkcaldy and via Ladybank to Dundee. From Dundee the train made its way to Perth and then back through Ladybank and crossing the bridge again on its journey back to Edinburgh.
