Promotional document folder in plastic folder with a tartan pattern cover presented by Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons Ltd to guests invited on a railway journey between Glasgow and Mallaig on 12 September 1989.
Inside the folder are:
• a promotional brochure for Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons Ltd
• a guest list
• an invitation to Mr Roland Paxton
• a plan showing the route of the journey and timetable
• a menu card
• a booklet “A History of the West Highland Line extension Fort William to Mallaig 1897 – 1901”
• a commemorative Polaroid photograph of Mr Paxton in a card
• two promotional items for Sir Robert McAlpine & Sons Ltd (a Parker ballpoint pen and a six inch scale)
The train departed Glasgow Queen Street Station at 08.40 with a breakfast of coffee and bacon and egg rolls provided. Then train stopped at Rannoch Station and arrived in Fort William at 13.00. Lunch was served at 11.45. The train departed Fort William at 13.06 and arrived at Mallaig at 14.55. The train departed Mallaig returning to Glasgow at 21.31. Afternoon tea was served in the late afternoon and a dinner was served 18.45.
