Description
Wrought iron rod, cut and polished to show unique fibrous texture of wrought iron.
The rod was saved from the Parshallburg Bridge (Wrought Iron Bridge Co., Canton, Ohio USA, 1889), cut and etched by the donor to show the unique fibrous texture of wrought iron. In 1992 the bridge was closed to traffic and in 1999 it was relocated to Chesaning, Michigan. However, in late 2008 this bridge was completely destroyed by ice.
