Description
L-shaped causeway sett dresser’s square in iron of overall dimensions 12.5 x 4.5 in divided for length in ¼ inches from 2 in to 7 in. Used in Edinburgh for measuring while dressing setts.
To be technically precise (ie: according to BS EN 1342:2001), a sett is a dressed block of stone having plan dimensions that are 50-300mm in length, and a thickness of at least 50mm. The length and/or width should not usually be greater than twice the thickness.
