Golden River Marksman Mark 3 series microprocessor traffic counter recorder

c.1984

Description

Golden River Marksman Mark 3 series microprocessor traffic counter recorder. Up to thirty different configurations of pneumatic tubes and induction loops are available for vehicle counting and classification for uni-directional and bi-directional single and “N+1” sites. The counter is used in conjunction with a hand-held data capture and programming device known as a “retriever”. The retriever programmed the counter and retrieved count data from the counter for subsequent download to a computer in the office. An example of the retriever is held in the collection (1994/015).

This counter was purchased (c.1984) by the Department of Highways of Lothian Regional Council and was used to count traffic at a number of locations in Lothian Region. Over a period they replaced the older print punch traffic counter recorders.
