Description

Levelling staff of wood and brass in two 3 ft sections an graduated in tenths of a foot. The lower section is graduated from 0 to 3 ft upwards and the upper from 3 to 6 ft downwards. This design enables it to be used in coal mines (or other underground areas of restricted height) to measure the height of of the area by extending the upper section to the underside of the area to read the height against the upper edge of the lower section.
