Donated to the Museum when the Forth Bridges Visitor Centre Trust (FBVCT) was wound up in 2012. This item had been held for many years by an Edinburgh firm of solicitors connected in some way to the construction of the Forth Bridge (perhaps representing the railway company or contractor) and in c.1990 this firm of solicitors contacted the FBVCT offering to donate the item to the Trust. This donation was accepted and the print adorned a space at the Visitor Centre for several years. The artwork was commissioned by Sir John Fowler; Sir Benjamin Baker and Tancred, Arrol & Company – Engineers and Contractors (see base of print).

Biographical notes of many of those represented in the portrait group were prepared by Ron Birse in 1990 and can be viewed here. The museum intends to add more information to these biographies shortly.
