Bound copy of original article entitled “The Forth Bridge” by Wilhelm Westhoven published in Engineering, January 1890. A photocopy from the inside of a another copy of this article of an admittance card signed by GB Wieland inviting Mr Robert Meikle to join a train at Haymarket Station to travel to/from the opening ceremony of the Forth Bridge is with this paper.

Wilhelm Westhoven (1842-1925) was Arrol’s engineer in charge of the works on Inchgarvie. This account of the design and construction of the Forth Bridge is considered to be the definitive text on the matter.
