Description

An Oric-1 computer. Power Cable, User Manual, Demonstration cassette tape and Book (Ian Sinclair. The ORIC-1 and how to get the most from it. Granada Publishing, 1983)

This British-designed and built machine was released in 1983. It was priced to undercut the cost of the 48K Spectrum by a few pounds. It contained an operating system and a modified BASIC interpreter.

About 160,000 Oric-1s were sold in the UK in 1983. A further 50,000 were sold in France.

The Oric-1 competed with ZX81 manufactured by Sinclair Research (see 2008/001) but failed to dislodge it from its pre-eminent position as the best seller.
