Gilded rivet from the Forth Bridge
Gilded rivet from the Forth Bridge encased in a clear plastic cuboid. It is No 685 of strictly limited issue. It bears the inscription “FORTH BRIDGE / Constructed 1883-1890 / This is rivet 685 of a strictly limited first issue presentation / D G McBeth (signed) / Chairman, Forth Bridges Visitors Centre, Scotland / April 1986”
An advert for the sale of these rivets was published in the Scotsman on 5 May 1986 (see Image 2). They were sold for £19.50 each including packing and postage.
