Description
12 in level made by Cooke, Troughton & Simms in grey enameled aluminium. Longitudinal bubble level with viewing mirror below and small bullseye bubble level near eyepiece with viewing mirror above. Removable ray shade with cover. Three screw leveling head. Used for measuring horizontal distances between points in conjunction with a levelling staff.
This instrument bears a label for LG Mouchel and Partners, Weybridge. It is understood that Mouchel donated a number of surveying instruments to the University of Portsmouth.
