SKU: 2012/016 Categories: ,

Description

Golf trophy comprising a 45 mm internal diameter nut mounted on a wooden plinth with three brass feet. It was played for by staff in the Department of Civil and Offshore Engineering at the Heriot-Watt University during the 1980’s. The trophy is called the ‘Bolton Nut’ and is a reference to Professor Arthur Bolton who was Head of Department at the time. It is a pun on his name and the words “bolt and nut” or “bolt ‘n nut”. The trophy was therefore of a whimsical nature.

The provenance of the nut which forms the trophy is unknown but is believed to be of no particular significance.
