Description

A full scale model of a cross-section of a cable from the Queensferry Crossing using original materials (2018).  In this model there are 55 strands which match the anchor plate (2017/015) made for 55 strands which is also in this collection. The number of strands used in the cables varied between 45 and 109 depending on the position and loading conditions. The model was made by Heriot-Watt University technical staff.

An identical model was made at the same time and this was donated to the V&A Dundee Museum in March 2018.
