Telescopic alidade made by ER Watts & Son, London mounted on a 15 in (381 mm) parallel rule. Fitted wooden case. The telescope can be used as a tacheometer to measure distance.
Alidades were used in conjunction with a plane table for the purpose of drawing plans and mapping. A label in the box lid dates this instrument to 1 August 1939.
