Removable ray shade with cover. Three screw leveling head. Used for measuring horizontal distances between points in conjunction with a levelling staff.
This instrument bears a label for LG Mouchel and Partners, Weybridge. It is understood that Mouchel donated a number of surveying instruments to the University of Portsmouth.
