The Rennie Memorial Medal. Commemorative medal in copper depicting John Rennie (1761 – 1821) the eminent Scottish civil engineer.

Obverse: Head of John Rennie. Legend: ‘JOHN RENNIE.’

The die for this medal was made by William Bain, medallist and was based on a sketch made by George Rennie (son of John Rennie) from a bust of John Rennie by Sir Francis Legatt Chantrey using a camera lucida. A copy of a letter signed by George Rennie and associated sketch are held in the ICE Scotland Museum collection (see here).
