Description
Original wrought iron nut and bolt from the Almond Aqueduct (or Lin’s Mill Aqueduct) that carries the Union Canal over the River Almond west of Ratho near Edinburgh. The aqueduct was built 1820-1822.
The aqueduct carries an iron trough and is 130 m long it carries the canal 23 m above the River Almond. This nut and bolt secured two adjacent troughs together at flanges and was retrieved c.1990 during renovation works.
