The UK Slide Rule Circle is reaching out to the wider public particularly engineers to let them know of the Circle’s existence and to enable anyone who felt so inclined to join. Many civil engineers of a certain vintage who visit the museum go gooey-kneed at the sight of a slide rule. For those familiar with slide rules the UK Slide Rule Circle offers a unique opportunity to keep in touch and relive experiences. For the younger generations, the Circle offers a glimpse into how calculations were made before the advent of calculating machines and computers. To learn more about the Circle click here.
A few years ago a Circle member, on reviewing the museum’s online catalogue, saw one of our slide rule and magnifier and was able to point out just how rare it is to see a magnifier (see here).
